The use of disease-modifying agents may reduce the requirement for NSAIDs. The use of such agents does not mean that intervention in the basic pathogenetic mechanisms (albeit hoped for) is achievable. Rather, disease-modifying therapy permits acutely acting agents to be used as add-ons or as required.
The amine function means that local anesthetics exist either as the neutral amine or positively charged ammonium cation, depending upon their dissociation constant (pKa value) and the actual pH value. The pKa of typical local anesthetics lies between 7. 5 and 9. 0. The pka indicates the pH value at which 50% of molecules carry a proton.

 

Therapeutic uses. Because of their narrow therapeutic margin, these antiarrhythmics are only employed when rhythm disturbances are of such severity as to impair the pumping action of the heart, or when there is a threat of other complications. The choice of drug is empirical. If the desired effect is not achieved, another drug is tried. Combinations of antiarrhythmics are not customary.
Colospa is used for relief of abdominal pain, cramps, bloating and wind, diarrhoea or constipation associated with irritable bowel syndrome. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
